Rarity in the NFT universe is akin to the uniqueness of a snowflake — no two are exactly alike. This uniqueness stems from various factors, such as limited editions, special attributes, or the scarcity of a particular digital creation. NFT collectors, like modern-day connoisseurs, seek these distinctive qualities that set their prized assets apart.

The concept of scarcity in collectibles intuitively resonates with humans. Unique one-of-one items have captured our imagination since ancient times. In NFTs, authentic digital scarcity breeds value through:

- Exclusivity alluring collectors
- Community prestige for owners
- Price premiums that accumulate over time

But when algorithmically generated collections produce thousands of layered trait permutations, rarity loses intuitive clarity. This is where NFTScan brings illuminating order.

# **The Essence of Rarity in NFTs**

At the core of rarity lies the concept of exclusivity, often manifested through limited editions, special attributes, or the sheer scarcity of a particular digital creation. Moreover, scarcity plays a pivotal role in shaping the rarity narrative. The fewer instances of a particular digital creation, the more coveted it becomes. This scarcity might arise from the deliberate choice of the creator to limit the number of editions or from the inherent nature of the content itself. Over the past two years, the team behind CyberWallet has been at the forefront of building and growing consumer crypto infrastructure and applications. CyberWallet Beta Launch Program & Community Rewards: S2 [Early Access]

### A Tale as Old as Time

In 2015, the Ethereum network launched with a proof of work (PoW) consensus mechanism akin to that of Bitcoin. Where it set itself apart, however, was a unique functionality of being able to execute smart contracts - a feature that attracted many new projects, builders, and developers on to the network.

The increased traction on Ethereum's main chain, however, led to congestion issues whereby transactions became increasingly slow and costly, thereby seeding the genesis of blockchain's scalability issue. Solving the issue of scalability was both an intricate and complex process, eventually leading to Vitalik's famous "Blockchain Trilemma" issue, whereby it was posited that out of the trifecta of [scalability](https://study.bitkeep.com/en/?ht_kb=what-are-blockchain-layers), decentralization and security, blockchains could only fully achieve two of the three at any one time, but never all three.

To address this issue, Ethereum opted to transition its consensus mechanism from PoW to proof-of-stake (PoS).

This concept of a PoS Ethereum , which was originally known as ETH 2.0, required Ethereum to instate a separate chain that utilized this PoS consensus, named the “Beacon Chain”.

In brief, PoS blockchains require users to stake their ETH to secure the network, which would then allow them to create new blocks and validate transactions on the blockchain. In return, they would receive remuneration in the form of ETH. The Beacon Chain required users to stake 32 ETH in order to become a validator on the chain. However, these users, or validators, would be unable to unstake their staked ETH or receive any rewards until the Beacon Chain had merged with the mainnet. This eventually took place in September 2022, commemorating the combination of the Beacon Chain with the new PoS Ethereum mainnet, with an Ethereum developer declaring that“this is the economic certification that we are firmly and irreversibly in the Proof of Stake network” during the launch party.

However, despite this upgrade, otherwise coined as "[The Merge](https://study.bitkeep.com/en/?ht_kb=explained-what-do-the-ethereum-merge-and-fork-entail)", validators were still unable to unstake their ETH.

### Here's Where the Shanghai Upgrade Comes In.

The Ethereum Shanghai Upgrade, also known as the Shapella upgrade, is the next major upgrade following “The Merge” and is an essential step in the continued development of the Ethereum protocol, finalizing its transition from PoW to PoS. This upgrade has the potential to improve the overall scalability and security of the network, increase accessibility and flexibility for users, and open the doors to new developments within Ethereum’s future roadmap. Most importantly, however, the Shanghai upgrade would allow validators to withdraw their staked ETH from the Beacon Chain, which is in line with the Ethereum Improvement Proposal-4895, or EIP-4895.

### There are caveats to this, however.

Following the Shanghai upgrade, validators would be allowed to withdraw their staked ETH in phases, thereby allowing them to cash out their hard-earned rewards. However, given the massive amount of liquidity at stake here (pun intended), the Ethereum Foundation certainly runs the risk of crashing if all validators withdrew their staked ETH altogether at the same time. Currently, staked ETH accounts for about one-seventh of the total ETH supply, which equates to a staggering $26 billion.

To avoid this scenario of pandemonium, limits will be imposed on the number of withdrawals that validators may make on each block, thereby styming the outflow of staked ETH from the chain. Validators, however, will not be required to pay gas fees to process their withdrawal transaction.

### Withdrawals: How they Work

When processing their withdrawals, validators will be able to have the option of choosing between partial or full withdrawals.

​

### Partial Withdrawals

For partial withdrawals, validators will only withdraw the rewards that they have earned previously. Their validator account and status, however, will be retained and will still be active on the Beacon Chain, allowing them to continue validating their transactions as per normal.

​

### Full Withdrawals

Full withdrawals, on the other hand, would allow validators to extract their entire staked balance, which includes the initial 32 ETH that was required for them to achieve their validator status, alongside all other rewards earned at the same time. However, to initiate this full withdrawal, validators are required to submit a voluntary exit message with their validator keys, starting the process of exiting from staking, and their validator account will be placed in the exit queue.

As with all transactions on any blockchain, the time taken to actually exit may depend on how many other validators are in the process of doing the same. Upon completion of the full exit process, the validator's account will lose its validator status and will no longer be eligible for rewards.

### Could the Shanghai Upgrade Impact the Price of ETH?

At present, it is uncertain as to whether or not the Shanghai Upgrade will positively or negatively affect the price of ETH. However, if reactions to the Shanghai Upgrade are anything like what we saw with The Merge, we can safely assume that it is likely to generate quite a bit of excitement, together with a boost in overall demand. However, some also speculate that the "mass unlocking" of staked ETH may potentially lead to selling pressure due to the increased supply in circulation as well, thereby reducing the value of ETH.

### Other Improvements

Besides the main development of EIP-4895, the Shanghai upgrade also includes several smaller EIPs that aim to reduce gas fees during times of high network activity, providing benefits to Ethereum developers. Among these proposed improvements are EIP-3860, which sets limits on developer gas costs in specific cases, and EIP-6049, which addresses a related concern.

### Closing Words

While the Shanghai upgrade (or Shapella upgrade, if that suits your fancy), may not be as revolutionary as The Merge upgrade, it could nevertheless still have large impacts for users with staked ETH and the broader Ethereum community in general.

While the Shanghai upgrade may be the object of our focus at this point in time, it should also perhaps be mindful to consider the planned upgrades on Ethereum in the future that are expected to arrive in the later half of 2023, such as some intended improvements to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and another aiming to divide the Ethereum blockchain into various "shards" to improve scalability.

Cyber Mainnet offers multiple options for CYBER holders to earn rewards and engage with the network by staking or providing liquidity.

If you participated in Season 2 CYBER Staking, you need to claim your rewards. These can either be staked for additional rewards (500k CYBER over the next 3 months) or claimed on Cyber Mainnet.

This step-by-step guide covers various activities including staking, claiming rewards, unstaking, and bridging, so users can effectively navigate the options available on Cyber.

It is worth mentioning, the CYBER token is now active with the LayerZero OFT standard. However, the bridging UI is still in development. The LayerZero bridge, which will enable transactions between supported networks (ETH, OP, BSC, and Cyber Mainnet), is expected to be live soon. We are currently finalizing it and plan to launch a new bridge UI for transferring CYBER across chains next week. Stay tuned for more updates.

### How to Bridge Gas (All Season 2 Participants)

3. Ensure you're on the network from which you wish to bridge.

5. Enter the amount and click **“Deposit.”** Follow the wallet prompts to complete the bridging of ETH for gas to Cyber Mainnet.

The process for staking or claiming rewards is identical for users who participated in early access and those who did not.

### How to Withdraw CYBER on ETH, OP, BSC (Non-Early Access Participants)

3. Under your rewards and snapshot details, select **“Withdraw**” for each network you've staked on.

Here's how stakers can earn extra rewards by joining Early Access to CYBER Mainnet Staking from May 22 to June 3, and what to expect after the official launch of CYBER Mainnet Staking on June 8.

## Early Access to Cyber Mainnet Staking

On June 8, 1,000,000 CYBER of staking rewards will be allocated to our stakers based on their Season 1 staking points. On this date, Cyber Mainnet Staking will officially starts, allowing users to stake CYBER on Cyber using EigenLayer’s Actively Validated Services (AVS). This will power Cyber’s essential decentralized infrastructure, including the sequencer, verifier, and CyberDB.

Meanwhile, we have opened up early access to mainnet staking on [https://cyber.co/stake](https://cyber.co/stake). If you currently stake CYBER on ETH, OP, or BSC, you have two options:

**Option 1:** Opt in Early Access from May 22 to June 3 to earn additional rewards.

- An extra 30% multiplier is applied to your Season 1 staking points from Mar 8 to June 8, resulting in 30% more staking rewards.
- Your staked CYBER is automatically migrated to Cyber, saving you up to $50 in gas and transaction fees.
- A total of 10,000,000 Link3 Score is distributed among Early Access Users.
- During Cyber Mainnet Staking, stakers can withdraw or unstake anytime following a 7-day waiting period.

**Option 2:** Not opt in of Early Access and claim rewards on June 8th.

- You can manually bridge staked CYBER to Cyber, however, a gas fee applies unlike if you participate in Early Access.

## Cyber Mainnet Staking

The launch of the Cyber mainnet introduces Cyber Mainnet Staking. This innovative mechanism not only bolsters network security but also democratizes governance, allowing users to actively participate in decision-making processes. We are extremely grateful for our community who have already staked more than 4.2 million CYBER even before the mainnet launch. We can’t wait to share with you what’s coming for Cyber Mainnet Staking!

**Governance**

CYBER stakers, along with CYBER holders, can propose and vote on CyberDAO governance proposals on Cyber.

**Network Security**

Cyber utilizes EigenLayer's Actively Validated Services (AVS) to build up the fundamental decentralized infrastructures such as sequencer, verifier, and CyberDB. Staked CYBER and restaked ETH are utilized as delegations to different AVS operators running this infrastructure.

**Staking Rewards**

CYBER is staked to AVS operators that run sequencers, verifiers, and CyberDB to enhance Cyber's security. In return, it is intended that CYBER stakers will share the revenue from these services programmatically.

From June 8 to September 8, 500k CYBER rewards will be allocated to incentivize mainnet stakers during this period. To supply ample rewards for CYBER stakers initially and ensure long-term sustainability, a total staking Incentive of 5.5M CYBER has been specifically designed to be distributed over the next six years.

**Ecosystem Airdrop & Launchpad**

Cyber attracts top-notch developers who are passionate about creating innovative services and products. This scaling solution enabled dApps in the CyberConnect ecosystem to attract over 1.6M profile sign-ups and enable new content tokenization primitives on networks beyond [Ethereum](https://ethereum.org/en/) Mainnet, like [BNB Chain](https://www.bnbchain.org/en) and [Polygon](https://polygon.technology/). By utilizing this hybrid solution, dApps could store users’ high unit value social data like profile, content, and collects on-chain while utilizing decentralized storage systems like Arweave for the rest. This crucial design implementation enables web3 social dApps to support various use cases without being restricted by limited blockspace.

Over the last 11 months, these upgrades helped engage over 1.3M unique wallets to execute 14.7M on-chain transactions on the CyberConnect protocol. In addition to 2.5M follow actions, 5.8M likes, and over 10.5M NFTs minted, more than 1.6M unique content was created across our rich ecosystem of social dApps, including [Link3](https://link3.to/), [Phaver](https://link3.to/phaver), [ReadOn](https://link3.to/readon), etc. Thanks to our dedicated community of users and developers, their engagement in the past few months has propelled CyberConnect as a top 10 contender on [DappRadar](https://dappradar.com/) across all networks and categories.

CyberConnect V2 also set the stage for soulbound tokens in web3 with W3ST (web3 status token, pronounced as west), enabling over 2,400 organizations, including [CoinMarketCap](https://link3.to/coinmarketcap), [PoolTogether](https://link3.to/pooltogether), [Maverick](https://link3.to/maverickprotocol), etc., to recognize and reward their most engaged and loyal supporters as proof of participation in those communities.

### Inside a Resilient Web3 Social Network

Since we’re building in public, our challenges have been visible far and wide. This has also helped us learn in public and iterate the CyberConnect protocol in real time to meet the demands of web3 social users and developers.

Even though CyberConnect V2 has been deployed on the Ethereum Mainnet, BNB Chain, and Polygon, it is simply not feasible to operate on multiple chains simultaneously due to the risk of fragmenting user identity. On top of this, it’s still remarkably complex to switch between blockchain networks as a user. Not to forget, even if they somehow tread along and become a seasoned web3 user, they need to acquire native tokens through a fiat on-ramp, CEX, or a bridge for every particular blockchain!

With these challenges top of mind, we returned to the drawing board and re-engaged with the first principles of decentralized social network protocols.

A resilient web3 social network protocol:

1. upholds a user’s holistic identity;
2. is multi-chain; 
3. abstracts away the complexities of network switching; and
4. is scalable.

**Current Challenges**

The primary challenge in introducing CyberConnect to multiple chains is to decouple different functions of a “user identity” to uphold a holistic identity.

The word ‘Identity’ is often overused but widely misunderstood. At first glance, it is a unique identifier that differentiates one person from another. However, in the added context of social networks, identity serves two crucial functions: authentication and authorization. Much like a username/email and password in web2 help validate a user and their ownership of an account, a web3 identity relies on a private key/seed phrase and cryptographic signatures to do the same. Furthermore, a social identity is like a database of a user’s social journey and constitutes important social events/actions like the content they create and engage with. In web3, Identity also needs to have a unique human readable identifier (abhi.cyber or abhir.eth) tied to it. Finally, users’ public information, like display name, bio, and avatars, is part of that same identity. While these are all distinct components of a web3 identity, they all have very different functionalities and properties.

CyberConnect V2 coupled them in an all-encompassing non-transferable ‘CyberProfile.’ Even though CyberProfile holders could change their public information like bio and avatar attached to their profile, they could not change their authentication method (EOA wallet) or username/handles after acquiring their identity.

But, much like updating your username, email, or phone number in web2, users in web3 must be able to change their authentication identity to enhance security or if their original credentials are compromised. Not only this, users must also have the flexibility to change or trade premium usernames without losing the rich history of their social journey.

Unfortunately, this is a much harder challenge to overcome. Then, if you add another difficulty of expanding a modular identity infrastructure to multiple blockchain networks, the complexity of this challenge escalates exponentially.

Fortunately, we’ve found a solution.

### Web3 Social's Multi-Chain Future

CyberConnect V3 consists of a set of powerful upgrades to the CyberConnect social network to usher web3 social into a new, multi-chain future. This upgrade will power the next stage of hyper scalability for web3 social dApps and give users a social networking experience that feels familiar to web2.

V3 has three core components: CyberAccount, an [ERC-4337](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-4337)-compatible identity infrastructure; CyberGraph, a censorship-resistant database to record users’ content + social connections; and CyberNetwork, a gas-efficient and scalable network to bring CyberConnect to the world.

### CyberAccount

CyberAccount is a suite of smart contracts that collectively represent a user’s self-sovereign digital identity, linking it to their content and social connections. This web3 account infrastructure comprises 4 key components, each with a different purpose:

**Authentication & Authorization**

CyberAccount is commissioned with defining the workflow for user authentication and authorization on the CyberConnect protocol.

Each CyberAccount is controlled and managed by one or more cryptographic key pairs, thus enabling a clear distinction between a user’s account and their web3 wallet. Through our collaboration with [ZeroDev](https://zerodev.app/), we incorporated this crucial design implementation that sets the stage to power several powerful primitives. This includes social recovery for cases of identity/private key loss as well as email, social, or phone login options for a seamless and familiar onboarding experience devoid of the need for seed phrase management.

Our team at CyberConnect is passionately committed to empowering users’ rights to privacy. We will therefore introduce an additional upgrade to CyberAccount in the coming months utilizing zero-knowledge proofs and privacy computing technology.

**ERC-4337 Compatible**

CyberAccount is ERC-4337 compatible, meaning it abstracts away the complexities of network switching and gas payments for end users. We worked closely with [StackUp](https://www.stackup.sh/) & [Pimlico](https://twitter.com/pimlicoHQ) to deploy an in-house bundler and paymaster solution, allowing us to improve the clunky user experience of web3 wallets and implement third-party-designed mechanisms to pay for users’ transactions. These kinds of transactions may also be called gasless transactions, and they’re crucial to level up the end-user experience. Without a bundler and paymaster, users would need to manually change networks every time they interact with a profile or content from another blockchain and acquire the blockchain's native token in their account to pay for transactions.

The paymaster allows CyberConnect protocol, the underlying network, or any given web3 dApp to pay for transactions on users' behalf, thus opening up a whole new level of possibilities for mass user onboarding and supercharge platform bootstrapping.

On CyberConnect, users will also be able to top up their gas credit from a network of their choice and use that credit on any other chain CyberAccount is deployed on, truly taking web3 social multi-chain.

And yes, [$CYBER](https://link3.to/cyberconnect/post/d430762b4c4a220decb9e8875db78f9af741699774d483d11b9c7203b1582e36) will eventually be used as the gas token across the protocol.

**CyberID**

Much like your username on Instagram or Twitter, CyberID is an ERC-721 token that represents a unique handle for your account in the CyberConnect social network.

Unlike most ERC-721 tokens, registering/minting a CyberID does not imply perpetual ownership. CyberID functions upon a demand-based recurring fees model. If you forget to extend the registration of your handle, it is released to an auction process.

During the growth phase of the CyberConnect social network, a portion of the CyberID registration fees will be refunded to the CyberAccount as $CYBER token in the form of gas credit.

**Organization Account**

Web3 social is not just for individual users. It’s also for teams, organizations, and brands to connect with their audiences and build meaningful, contribution-based communities. Link3, a web3 social network to build and discover new communities, is the biggest dApp within CyberConnect by user activity. It is loved by web3-native teams across blockchain networks for their community management needs. To push the potential of CyberAccount one step further, we’ve designed a powerful new way for organizations to embark on their web3 social journey. The organization account is a special kind of CyberAccount that provides advanced account management features such as multi-sig and customizable access control rules.

Additionally, the CyberConnect social network protocol provides a robust verification infrastructure that allows any third party to verify external accounts (e.g. Twitter, Discord) associated with the org account.

### CyberGraph

In web2, social graphs represent the connections between users, their content, and interests. They are a key data set social network platforms use to capture attention and increase user engagement. However, social graphs have recently become more of a limitation for users and developers due to their rampant centralization by big tech. To offer an alternative, we’re introducing CyberGraph, a decentralized, censorship-resistant, and user-owned alternative to power the next generation of social networking platforms on the internet.

CyberGraph is a set of smart contracts that links user identities (CyberAcconts) to their content and social connections and enables the recording of that rich social data onto multiple EVM-compatible blockchains. Through CyberGraph’s unique, customizable middleware design, storing users’ high-unit value social data on blockchain databases unlocks several novel social networking and community-building primitives, including monetization through tokenization.

**Content**

Every user with a CyberAccount is already equipped with creator capabilities and can publish monetizable content. When a piece of content like a post, image, or video is first created on a dApp on the CyberConnect protocol, it is uploaded to a decentralized storage system like IPFS or Arweave, following which a link between the URL of the content and the creator’s account is recorded on the CyberGraph smart contract. This decentralized account-to-content linking is foundational in guaranteeing true user ownership and removing centralized control from any one platform.  It is a critical step in facilitating online communication on the open web to prevent a corrupted/disincentivized platform from monopolizing and manipulating content distribution.

CyberGraph also sets the stage for the next stage of growth for the creator economy, empowering artists and creators to offer new experiences to their fans/audience by making their content collectible. Each collect signals a fan’s support of a specific piece of content or creator with a permanent record on the blockchain. Creators can use this engagement information to identify their earliest or their most engaged supporters and tailor their rewards or growth campaigns accordingly.

Additionally, every time a user comments on a piece of content on the CyberConnect social network, a link to the original content is established on the smart contract, ensuring content sovereignty and provenance. Users can also amplify the original content by sharing posts, images, videos, etc., much like in web2.

**W3ST**

One of the most community-loved features of CyberConnect V2 is W3ST (Web3 Status Token, pronounced as West). It is a non-transferrable NFT with on-chain issuer reference that acts as a digitally verifiable indicator of a user’s status in their community. It is a powerful instrument for users to find their tribe in web3. Organizations use W3ST to recognize their most engaged and loyal supporters and therefore build a digitally verifiable, immutable, and contextually meaningful contribution-based value system in their communities. W3ST is also instrumental in growing communities because it helps identify potential members with similar interests, affiliations, and past experiences.

We are thrilled to share that W3ST is now more gas efficient and even more discoverable. Instead of every W3ST as its unique ERC-721 contract, organizations will now utilize a singular ERC-1155 smart contract to save gas and empower their members with better discoverability on NFT platforms.

**Subscription**

Connections are the fabric that weaves online social networks; creators should be able to monetize the relationships and friendships they've garnered from their content and social capital. On CyberConnect protocol, subscriptions are designed to enable self-sovereign monetization of creators' communities.

In V3, users must set up their subscription logic with a predefined monthly fee to enable subscriptions. When your audience subscribes to you, they would need to prepay at least one month of subscription fee. With Subscription, creators can easily monetize their exclusive pay-to-reveal content.

**Middleware**

CyberGraph follows a middleware architecture to create more design space for customized logic. Middlewares are plug-and-play custom execution logic codes that run before and after an action trigger to extend the default behaviors in social networks.

CyberConnect provides a repository of middleware for developers to use by generalizing common computational patterns. For example, imagine that dApp *A* wants to build a social network for [Bored Ape Yacht Club](https://boredapeyachtclub.com/#/) by setting the condition that only BAYC holders can mint their app-specific ContentNFT, and dApp *B* wants to do the same thing for RTFKT’s [CloneX](https://clonex.rtfkt.com/) holders. The underlying pattern here is the same; the only difference is the gated ERC-721 contract address.

We invite the developer community to contribute to this repository and help us build a wide range of reusable middleware together. Dapp developers can pick and choose the relevant ones to plug into their dApp easily.

### CyberNetwork

Blockchains were designed for a decentralized, transparent, secure, and immutable system for recording and verifying information. However, actually storing data on existing blockchains is expensive. So, even though representing social data on the blockchain is good for programmability and interoperability, high gas costs are an incredibly challenging bottleneck for scaling web3 social networks to a billion users. In the last 11 months, over $2M in gas fees was paid by 1.3M users on CyberConnect V2 alone. Users need a better alternative that is dramatically scalable without compromising their data ownership.

In the coming months, we will introduce additional upgrades to the CyberConnect social network to make all social interactions/transactions much cheaper.

### **Roadmap**

CyberConnect V3 will be available for use in the coming days, beginning with Link3.

In the coming weeks, we will officially roll out the upgraded CyberConnect social network to multiple L1 and L2 blockchain networks through an exclusive launch campaign with Link3 called, **CyberVoyage.** We invite web3 teams across ecosystems to join us. More details will be shared soon.

## **Introduction to Web3 Social**

The use of decentralized, blockchain technology is changing the way our world operates. While the most popular use case of blockchain has been financialization (tokens, DeFi, and NFTs), the technology is now being used to power new forms of identity, data ownership, and communication enablement in the form of blockchain-powered social networks, known as **Web3 Social**. In this article, we examine the core value propositions of Web3 Social, how the various protocols and platforms work, the level of product-market fit seen today and its potential to become the future of how we interact, build communities, make friends and transact online.

The best way to understand the viability of Web3 Social is to first understand how past waves of innovation came to be and assess if Web3 Social shares similar characteristics. Waves of innovation are found at the crossroads of technology innovation and new consumer / business value; they change the way our world works and in hindsight often feel obvious. Just like the real world, tsunamis are often followed by several large waves. For example, silicon chips and the internet were tsunamis followed by waves of personal computing, e-commerce, digital financial services, and web2 social platforms. In web3, Blockchain is the new tsunami, followed by the waves of decentralized finance, dapps and NFTs. Will Web3 Social be a new wave? Will it provide enough additional value than its predecessors? Let’s dive into the proposed Key Value Propositions Web3 Social offers.

## **Key Value Propositions** 

### 1. Open Data & Portability 

The social media applications we use today leverage complex underlying data networks that make our experiences possible. These are called “**social graphs**”; interconnected data structures that map our digital relationships and interactions, who we follow and subscribe to, what we like and more. In Web 2.0, social graphs are private systems with all assets, data and behavioral analysis owned or controlled by internet companies. As users, we lack any real ownership or control of this data and as a consequence social graphs are “siloed” and walled-off  from other platforms; our identities and experiences will likely never be connected across platforms. To use new platforms, users have to rebuild past social connections and history, but this comes with significant friction, leading to platform lock-in. If end users want to switch from one application to another, they have to start from scratch.

How is Web3 Social different? For one, it aims to establish a base layer where users' social graph data is transparent, permissionless, portable, and most importantly in their control. Let us call this model “**open data**.”

**Open data** allows users to easily onboard new applications built on the same social graphs without having to deal with this redundancy issue. Anyone who uses Web3 Social platforms can take their data to whichever app they want. Imagine a world where Joe Rogan and Spotify decided to part ways. Today, Joe Rogan and other creators have limited access to their fans, subscribers and content, and he’d, in some respects, have to start over on another platform. With Joe Rogan’s popularity, that shouldn’t be an issue, but for 99% of artists, this is a big deal.

Isolated data prevents independent developers from tapping into these social graphs and **building new experiences and applications for users** on top of them. Consequently, innovation in the social app space has a massive cold-start problem. New social applications are frequently being developed, but often fail as they are not able to get traction. With Web3 Social, users may be more willing to try new social experiences if they can bring their data and friends along. An example of a new, novel Web3 Social experience is Link3, a social application built on the CyberConnect protocol. Link3 is a mixture of LinkedIn, Medium, and Eventbrite, but with crypto primitives embedded within it — allowing you to connect your wallet, NFTs, ENS names to build your profile & reach. There are many more examples of novel social experiences stimulated by Web3 Social that will be covered in following sections.

Eliminating data silos also lowers the barrier to entry for new developers, reducing the network effect of gated social graphs that otherwise monopolize user data. Open data can allow applications to read and write data to ***multiple*** social graph protocols; users can connect their IDs from multiple Web3 Social profiles to one application, and to many applications. Phaver is a good example of a Web3 Social application that connects the social graph of users from different networks in one interface, by integrating with both Lens Protocol and CyberConnect.

Open data standards simply allow us to create more without borders.

We are seeing examples of open data within existing Web2 Social applications today. META, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, recently launched Threads. While the long-term value of Threads as an application is yet to be determined, Threads allows users to instantly follow and connect with their Instagram friends as soon as they sign up. However, your data on Instagram and Threads is still siloed within the walls of META. Threads announced the possibility of integrating with ActivityPub, a standard communication protocol that allows users to interact with all platforms using ActivityPub, but has not integrated yet.

The walled gardens of Web2 Social also have a tremendous impact on businesses operating on those platforms. Reddit recently enforced API pricing which led to several applications shutting down, much to the outcry of the community. This would not be a problem if Reddit was built on Web3 Social infrastructure as these apps & communities would be able to  bring their followers and content to new platforms with more favorable terms or value alignment.

On the content creation side, a lack of platform lock-in will give creators the choice to migrate to a different application while retaining ownership of their social graph data, mitigating situations where platforms change their monetization, moderation, or revenue sharing models. In Web2 Social, data silos inhibit creators from having this freedom of choice.

### 2. Composability: unlocking a sea of new possibilities

Since Web3 Social protocols are deployed on blockchains, they are often highly composable with other smart contracts and protocols. This open data architecture allows developers of new crypto innovations to freely integrate with Web3 Social protocols & apps — like connecting a user’s on-chain history to populate their social profile, displaying the NFTs they own as credentials and enabling them to turn their content and posts into NFTs and potentially sell them. Composability is lacking in traditional social media, and even in the few cases where crypto was integrated with Web2 Social, it was neither native nor complete.

Coupled with open data, web3 composability enables creative developers to integrate their social platform with crypto protocols — from DeFi apps, metaverse games, DAOs, NFTs and everything in between. For example, Warpcast is a platform built on the Farcaster protocol that allows users to locate other members of the same NFT communities, holders of the same POAP, and even link ENS domains to a user’s profile. These functionalities are enabled by connecting an Ethereum address to a profile, creating an on-chain holistic identity. Other platforms also offer similar features, with some like Phaver allowing users to connect their Lens profiles, ENS domains, and Farcaster ID to a single profile. Another example of Web3 composability is CyberConnect’s subscription models, which allow users to define creator-to-subscriber relationships through the power of SubscribeNFTs.

Another possibility is  SocialFi, a concept Mason Nystrom from Variant Capital [wrote about recently](https://variant.fund/articles/socialfi-financial-component-web3-social-media-apps/). SocialFi refers to the integration of the social layer and the financial layer of someone's digital life. Imagine what traditional social media platforms would do if they had unlimited access to traditional financial exchanges, banks, lending providers, crowdfunding platforms, etc. Other SocialFi features include micropayments enabled on a Web3 Social app, on-chain lending credit scores connected to a social identity and biometric proof-of-personhood connected to a social profile.

The possibilities for crypto composability are endless, as Web3 primitives continue to expand and develop - new experiences await.

### 3. Next-Level Community Enablement

Blockchain infrastructure is a powerful tool to bring people together over a common purpose. We saw this in the last few years with token-powered communities coordinating a bid for the American Constitution (ConstitutionDAO), vote for DeFi protocol governance (Uniswap, Safe, Maker, Gnosis), invest in digital art (e.g. PleasrDAO) and build social clubs around NFT collections. Participants became owners and highly engaged stakeholders.

Combining new innovations like dynamic NFTs with emerging Web3 social protocols will take these experiences to the next level. This can be further augmented by combining real-world data into Web3; for example certifications, purchases, relationships, more relevant communities can be spun up instantly, genuine relationships will be more easily formed, and new forms of commerce will emerge.

Visualize a web3 social graph connected by holistic identities (say, NFT profiles or other forms of tokenization) that can cross-reference similar characteristics with each other. Open data and transparency allow platforms to automatically spin up communities based on profiles sharing similar characteristics with other profiles in the social graph.

Some thought experiments:

- A user of a LinkedIn-esque web3 platform could attach an identifier to their profile that associates them with their alma mater university, let’s say in the form of an NFT attribute. The platform could automatically create an alumni networking community for users with the same alma mater; in similar ways, communities can be created automatically, globally, and exempt from web2 data moats using such methods. Not only does it allow individuals to join communities, but it also allows artists, writers, influencers, and other creators to build communities with all those who follow them.
- Imagine an author who sells a book with an attached NFT, and every NFT holder (also an authenticated purchaser of the book) can join a community to talk about the book and communicate with the author. As we will see soon, there are also real examples of Web 3 community enablement, including users of Warpcast and other Web3 Social apps being able to easily find user profiles of others in the same NFT ownership community. These forms of global and unified community enablement transcend what web2 can currently do.

Orb, a Web3 Social application, is bringing some of these thought experiments to life. Orb allows for the transformation of any on-chain activity or possession into a cohesive community. Possessing a specific quantity of a particular ERC-20 token, holding an NFT ticket for a specific event, or collecting publications, for instance, can all be moulded into distinct communities. Web3 Social allows for new ways of building communities, make friends and at a much deeper level than what exists today.

### 4. Censorship Resistance & Ownership

Regardless of creed, belief or opinion, freedom of speech and expression is arguably a cornerstone of social media, though the limits are always under debate. Given the power and control traditional social platforms hold over our data, they are in an unparalleled position to moderate what is said online and deplatform users at their discretion. There is no recourse for the user other than to just deal with it.

A recent instance of platform moderation was revealed to the public after Elon Musk took over Twitter (now rebranded as “X”). The “Twitter Files”, a series of revealed internal Twitter documents, revealed how the company app was suppressing and controlling information on the platform behest of governments’ requests or information it deemed to be unsafe. While Elon advocated for truth and transparency with the “Twitter Files”, ironically, after Twitter rebranded to “X”, the company unceremoniously claimed the “@x” handle from a user. This also happened with the account who owned the “@music” handle.

These examples highlight how in traditional web2 platforms users are never truly the master of their own identity, account and in some cases their voice. Web3 social solves this - to an extent. Applications built on Web3 Social protocols *can* still moderate content, but users maintain full ownership and the option to leave one application for another and still keep their data, or even build their own censorship-resistant application if all else fails. The core tenet here is that there is no lock-in to a particular application – whenever users want to, they can abandon a social application and migrate to a brand new one, taking all their data with them.

### Key Value Propositions – Conclusion

What’s so exciting about Web3 Social is that it unlocks entirely new experiences for community, commerce, composability, engagement, ownership and identity, all while it serves to solve some of the core ills of existing Web2 Social platforms. New ways to build community, make friends and transact are around the corner.

What’s also exciting is the caliber of entrepreneurs entering the space. Within Superscrypt’s investments, Airstack, Collab.Land, Orb, Notifi and Salsa are solving different challenges on access, experience, or interoperability of Web3 Social.

There is still much work needed to bring Web3 Social to the masses; the technology and adoption is growing, but still in its infancy. We expect more iterations before true product-market-fit is achieved and will share more updates soon.

## CYBER Mainnet Staking Nasıl Çalışır

## Cyber Mainnet'te Nasıl Stake Yapılır

### Erken Erişim Sırasında Katıldıysanız

Cyber Vault, stakerlar için varsayılan seçenektir. Mainnet staking'e erken erişimle katıldıysanız, CYBER'iniz otomatik olarak Cyber Mainnet'e köprülenecek ve Cyber Vault'a stake edilecektir. Otomatik geçişten, sıfır gaz ücretlerinden ve 14 Haziran'da talep edilebilecek ödüller için bonus çarpanından yararlandınız.

Mainnet staking'e erken erişime katılıp katılmadığınıza bakılmaksızın, 14 Haziran 2024'ten itibaren Sezon 2 Staking Ödüllerinizi talep etmeniz gerekecek. Tüm ödüller Cyber Mainnet üzerinde dağıtılacak ve CYBER staking paneli üzerinden talep edilebilecektir.

Cyber Mainnet üzerinde ödüllerinizi talep ederken iki seçenek göreceksiniz: “Stake Et” veya “Talep Et”.

- **Stake Et:** Bu seçenek, ödüllerinizi otomatik olarak Cyber Vault aracılığıyla talep eder ve stake eder, cCYBER varlıklarınızı ve gelecekteki ödüllerinizi artırır, mainnet staking'in ilk üç ayı için tahsis edilen 500,000 CYBER'den bir pay almanızı sağlar.

It is unique in so far that it’s decentralized, meaning that it is open and permissionless for both users and developers. For users, it means that we remain in ownership and control of our data and can take it from one app to another without being locked into one ecosystem. For developers, it means that we don’t need to ask for permission from anyone to build innovative experiences or applications and can compete with others purely on the grounds of better service.

CyberConnect is compatible with EVM-compatible blockchains. There exist a variety of ‘clients’ on the protocol, like Link3, Phaver, and Mocaverse. Last month, [we introduced CyberID](https://link3.to/cyberconnect/post/94e7b558022376aff30fabe6c8ed07be82b6ffdf6bd2c6665cdd054dc54b4da0), a web3-native digital social identity solution. One’s digital identity carries many aspects that reflect our personas in the real world. ### **Why CyberID?**

Our digital persona is the product of all of the information that exists about us online, such as our content, connections, and engagements. When our digital identities are fragmented across different platforms, there is no single place where all this information can be seen together. That’s why our digital identities in the traditional social media world often feel like a puzzle, with different platforms holding different pieces of our interactions. We post updates on Facebook, share real-time thoughts on Twitter, highlight our professional achievements or milestones on LinkedIn, and keep a visual journal of our lives on Instagram. But all these services and applications operate in their own isolated universes (or walled gardens), resulting in fragmented interactions. This can make it difficult to get a complete picture of our digital persona, and it can also be challenging to manage our own online interactions across multiple platforms and services. This necessitates a unified, self-sovereign, and decentralized identity that transcends the limitations of traditional tech giants. CyberID provides a solution to this.

Each CyberID is a tradeable ERC-721 NFT representing your social identity in web3. It acts as an alias for your various blockchain addresses, providing a simplified, human-readable handle instead of a string of alphanumeric characters — much like your username on Instagram or Twitter. CyberID makes the experience of navigating through the web3 space seamless by mitigating the complexities of managing multiple addresses on different blockchains. In simpler terms, CyberID is a way to create a single, unified identity for yourself on the blockchain. 

### How to mint your CyberID

Each CyberID is available on a demand-based one-time payment model. For a limited period, we’re offering 100% cash back on your handle purchase amount in the form of gas credit (SmartGas) to your CyberAccount.

The cost of minting your CyberID is determined by the handle length you select. Shorter and more distinctive handles incur a higher price. For example, if your chosen CyberID is **tom.cyber**, which is 3 characters long, the fee would be $1000. Each character you add or remove adjusts the fee, allowing you to choose a CyberID that fits your persona and budget.

**Step 1:** Create a CyberAccount (skip if you already have one)

- Visit [wallet.cyber.co](https://wallet.cyber.co/cyberid?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=cyberid&utm_term=cyberaccount-cyberid&utm_content=CyberID+-+Your+Web3+Social+Identity), and you’ll be prompted to connect your EOA wallet, such as MetaMask.

- To initiate the connection, click on the 'Connect' button. This will bring up a list of compatible wallets. If you don’t have a wallet yet, find one that is available in your region [here](https://ethereum.org/en/wallets/find-wallet/).

- Select your wallet provider. A pop-up from your wallet will ask for confirmation to establish the connection with [wallet.cyber.co](https://wallet.cyber.co/cyberid?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=cyberid&utm_term=cyberaccount-cyberid&utm_content=CyberID+-+Your+Web3+Social+Identity).

**Step 2:** Proceed to Mint Your CyberID

- Once your EOA wallet is successfully connected, locate the 'CyberID' tab on the left-hand sidebar. This will direct you to the CyberID minting page.

- A menu will appear with two options: ‘Mint’ and ‘Claim.’ Make sure you select the ‘Mint’ option to create a new CyberID. If you previously held a CyberProfile (now deprecated), you can ‘claim’ your previous handle.

**Step 3:** Choose your unique CyberID handle

- Enter your desired CyberID handle, which will be displayed as [your handle].cyber. For example, if you choose the handle ‘tom,’ your CyberID will be displayed as tom.cyber.

- Review the minting fee, which will be automatically calculated based on the length of your chosen CyberID handle. This fee will be displayed in USD and payable in ETH on the OP Mainnet network.

*Note: Before proceeding, double-check that your signer wallet has enough ETH to cover the minting fee. Remember, this transaction occurs on the OP Mainnet, so that’s where your funds need to be.*
