# ERC4337 Core Devs call — Meeting #10

In the [latest update](https://twitter.com/ch4r10t33r/status/1664250557601652738?s=20) from the 10th call of the ERC-4337 group, several key topics were discussed. Here are the notable points:

**Fan-out issue progress**

The team provided a status update on the fan-out issue that was previously discussed.

Encouraging progress has been made, and the team is actively working on implementing the proposed solution.

**MsgId decision for Gossipsub messages**

The team has made a crucial decision regarding the msgId for Gossipsub messages. They have agreed to utilize the UserOp hash as the msgId, ensuring a unique identifier across all topics.

This decision is particularly significant when a bundler supports multiple mempools. The p2p specification will be updated accordingly to reflect this decision.

**Python’s lack of libp2p support**

The group addressed the issue of Python’s lack of support for libp2p and presented three available options to resolve it:

1. Implementing the p2p interface in a separate language and running it as a sidecar.
2. Creating a Python wrapper for the Rust libp2p implementation to enable integration.
3. Reviving the py-libp2p project and updating the code to align with the latest libp2p specification.

Ethereum has demonstrated its growing dominance in the financial market once again. The network processed $3.01 trillion in transactions, just slightly behind Visa’s $3.08 trillion, according to recent data from [Coingraph](https://twitter.com/CoingraphNews/status/1663074411291738113?s=20).

Despite being younger than traditional payment giants, Ethereum’s rise highlights the mainstream adoption of blockchain technology, which has often been associated with illicit activities.

As the second-largest blockchain with a market capitalization of $227.8 billion, Ethereum powers various financial technology solutions such as decentralized finance (DeFi), staking, lending, and flash loans.

Its versatility and room for further development give it an edge over traditional financial systems.

According to data from [Etherscan](https://etherscan.io/chart/tx), the number of Ethereum transactions per day reached 968,996 on May 28 and an all-time high of 1,932,711 transactions on December 9, 2022.

# Coinbase Wallet enables gas-free USDC transactions on Polygon (MATIC)

In an [official announcement](https://twitter.com/CoinbaseWallet/status/1663680306329821184?s=20), Coinbase Wallet revealed that holders of USDC on Polygon can now send their assets without paying any gas fees.

This new option significantly simplifies cross-border transfers and enhances the overall usability of USD Coin (USDC) operations.

The development has garnered positive feedback from Coinbase’s Twitter followers, with some curious if the offering will expand to other networks like Solana (SOL), Near Protocol (NEAR), or Avalanche (AVAX).

This feature is introduced by implementing EIP 4337, also known as “Account Abstraction,” in EVM-compatible blockchains. EIP 4337, a highly anticipated Ethereum (ETH) upgrade, allows developers to subsidize gas fees for transfers from specific accounts.

Account Abstraction allows users to utilize smart contract wallets (SCWs) instead of Externally Owned Accounts (EOAs) as primary accounts, offering numerous benefits.

ERC-4337 operates on existing blockchains like Ethereum without requiring significant infrastructure changes.

Key concepts include UserOperation, Bundler, EntryPoint, Paymaster, and Aggregator. Bundlers bundle UserOperations into transactions while EntryPoint verifies and executes them. Paymasters handle gas payment policies, allowing flexibility in gas payments. Aggregators reduce call data costs by validating aggregated signatures.

ERC-4337 builds upon EIP-2938 and EIP-3074, introducing an alternative mempool without altering the consensus layer.

While ERC-4337 doesn’t achieve complete account abstraction, it acts as a transaction relayer without consensus layer changes.

# Tom Teman on AA Proposal at Israel Crypto Conference

[Tom Teman](https://il.linkedin.com/in/tom-teman-83a49b8), a prominent product manager and developer expert at the Ethereum Foundation, delivered a compelling speech on account abstraction at the [Israel Crypto Conference](https://www.israelcrypto.io/events/israel-crypto-conference) on May 30.

# Web3 developer Magic raises $52M

San Francisco-based wallet-as-a-service provider [Magic](https://magic.link/) has raised [$52 million](https://twitter.com/magic_labs/status/1663909048922537987?s=20) in a funding round led by PayPal Ventures, with Cherubic, Synchrony, KX, Northzone, and Volt Capital participating.

This brings Magic’s total funds raised to over $80 million. The company’s software is used by retail, music, fashion, and gaming brands, and the funding will be used to expand its adoption and functionality in the European Union and Asia-Pacific region.

Magic’s software development kit enables vendors to create wallets using existing logins and offers features such as authentication, fiat on-ramps, NFT minting, and checkout.

Among many other use cases that improve traditional systems (art, finance, real estate, etc.), [web3](https://ethereum.org/en/web3/)’s token-powered protocols and decentralized social media’s growing landscape offer a drastically different approach to the conventional “social graph” — a representation of traditional social networks and how we connect online.

## The Problem with Centralized Social Media

The current social network (and user data) landscape is dominated by a limited number of profit-driven, centralized corporations (Meta, Twitter, TikTok), whose primary focus is their own financial interests. As a result, these platforms often exploit user data, abruptly adjust revenue-sharing splits, and manipulate our content and online connections, on a massive scale to maximize revenue.

While global social media use has grown yearly, with reports finding that over [4.62 billion](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20220126005361/en/Digital-2022-Report-Finds-Social-Media-Users-Now-Equivalent-to-58-Percent-of-the-World%E2%80%99s-Total-Population#:~:text=There%20are%20now%204.62%20billion,of%20the%20world's%20total%20population.) people now use social media worldwide, creators still see disproportionate returns — $5.5 billion in 2022, according to certain reports — to the industry’s estimated $231.1 billion market value.

As social platforms’ value grows annually at an estimated rate of 19.4%, we must ask ourselves who benefits most when people spend more time scrolling on their smartphones.

Is it content creators, where a select few — 50, [according to Forbes](https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexandrasternlicht/2022/09/06/top-creators-2022/?sh=1d1c2dc967a1) — in aggregate made over $570 million in 2021?

What about users who have become accustomed to "[doom scrolling](https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/sep/06/doomscrolling-linked-to-poor-physical-and-mental-health-study-finds)," shadowy [algorithms, ](https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/sep/06/doomscrolling-linked-to-poor-physical-and-mental-health-study-finds)moderation, and sudden feature changes?

Let's not forget developers, who, at the center of tech's [social media-driven wave of layoffs](https://blog.developerpurpose.com/elon-musk-just-force-ranked-twitter-engineers-fired-the-bottom-507ab35b659a), are subject to mercurial CEOs whose arbitrary policies hinder innovation and the ability to create social products that users actually want.

From whatever angle you dissect the trends and data, it's clear that fundamental changes to how we architect and, later, utilize social networks are urgently needed.

Let's explore the Ethereum's scalability endgame, and try to simplify it as much as possible.

## Sharding 1.0

Ethereum's initial scalability approach was via sharding (let's call it sharding 1.0), **effectively transforming Ethereum into 64 parallel-processing shards, much akin to 64 chains executing blocks simultaneously**.

However, this design brought in unwanted complexities—each of the 64 shard blocks had individual proposers and committees cycling through the validator set, resulting in an inferior user experience and potential security vulnerabilities.

## Problems for rollup-centric roadmap

With the advent of L2 solutions, Ethereum **shifted towards a rollup-centric roadmap**. This means they plan to delegate transaction ("txn" for brevity) and smart contract execution to L2s, while focusing on ensuring L2 data availability on L1.

This brings up a few additional queries - at present, L2 data is posted on L1 through *calldata* which **incur significant gas cost**, as *calldata* is processed by all Ethereum nodes and it stays on the chain perpetually.

So, what are we looking for?

We aim to **decrease the gas cost of posting data on L1, and simplify the validation process for validators as much as possible** in order to achieve greater decentralization.

Specifically, we want to enable validators to (1) confirm that L2 data are made available on L1, (2) ascertain that data availability sampling are done correctly, (3) do (1) & (2) without having to download data, and (4) only focus on validating instead of building blocks.

## Danksharding

Danksharding will address these aspects in several ways:

- Data blob (reduces L2 data posting cost)
- Data availability sampling (ensures data was made available)
- KZG commitment (ensures data were properly made available)
- Proposer-builder separation (ensures validators only focus on validation instead of having to build blocks, which is a expensive computational work)

### Data blob

Instead of posting L2 transactions to L1 via calldata, **we're introducing a new transaction type termed "data blob"** to house this data. The revamped lifecycle appears like this:

- Let's just focus on the red box
- Once L2 sequencers processed the txns, they post the blob txn (the yellow box, which includes a commitment to the blob) along with the data blob (the blue box, encompassing the L2 transaction data) to L1 txn pool
- L1 execute the txn

- Proposers view the txns and broadcast them. But instead of broadcasting the whole thing, blob txns will be included in the execution payload that will be processed in the execution layer, whereas the blobs will ONLY be maintained on the consensus layer to cut costs.

### Data availability sampling ("DAS")

We aim to guarantee that validators can easily verify data availability without the need to download the data. This is where DAS comes into play. While the exact cryptographic process can get quite complex, let's try to simplify it.

First off, it's crucial to understand that the data is interpreted as a polynomial (we know it sounds scary, but we’ll make it simple).

Just remember this - for any polynomial with a degree 'd', we can reconstruct the polynomial with 'd+1' coordinates that lie on this polynomial.

Take this polynomial as an example, which is degree 3 (2x^3).

Now, suppose anyone receive a data set of -5, 1, 29, and 91.

- We can reconstruct the previous polynomial with these 4 coordinates.
- Knowing the polynomial, we use something called Reed-Solomon code (which is a type of erasure code, you don’t have to understand this) to expand 4 more coordinates.
- We now have 8 coordinates on the polynomial.
- Given that it's a polynomial of degree 3, we only need 4 coordinates to reconstruct the polynomial.
- As we have 8 coordinates, we can ensure data reconstruction as long as 50% (4/8) of the data is available.

Applying this concept back to Ethereum DAS:

For data blob we receive, we map them to a polynomial and apply the erasure code to expand it by 2x.

**We then just need to ensure that 50% of the data is available** for us to reconstruct the entire block.

### KZG commitment

Now that we have the erasure-coded data, the question is, how can we verify that the data were correctly erasure coded? That's where the KZG commitments come into play.

Let’s continue to use the example polynomial.

- To confirm that the data is erasure coded correctly, the prover creates a commitment A to the polynomial.
- The prover then calculates a proof B for the evaluation of x = 1, i.e., F(1) = -5.

Given commitment A, proof B, the position x=1 and the evaluation F(1) = -5, any verifier can affirm that the evaluation of x = 1 is indeed correctly aligned with the committed polynomial.

But in reality, a single Ethereum block will use a 2-dimensional KZG scheme which includes MANY KZG commitments, instead of just one.

Danksharding aims to support max of 256 data blobs per block, each of which requires a commitment.

We'll again use the Reed-Solomon code (introduced in DAS), to extend these 256 commitments to 512 commitments, all of which lie on the same polynomial.

But there's an issue.

Even though we only need 50% availability of any given row or column to reconstruct that entire row or column, what if something like the below chart happens - where the missing data of the red box is slightly ≥25%? For any row or column that involves the lower right extension, we have <50% of the data, which means we can't reconstruct it.

Therefore, **in practice, we need at least 75% of the data to be available** (as opposed to the 50% mentioned earlier in the DAS section).

### Proposer-builder separation

The danksharding design, while advantageous in many ways, presents a unique challenge due to its increased block building requirements.

- Maximum block sizes for danksharding could reach up to 32 MB, and computing KZG commitments for such a data volume in ~1s necessitates a CPU with 32-64 cores.
- Transmitting 64 MB of data within the builder's deadline would demand at least 2.5 GBit bandwidth.

**Such constraints make it challenging for home-based stakers to construct a block in danksharding**. They're required to invest in more robust hardware, a factor that could harm decentralization.

To mitigate this, we need specialized "builders".

Builders handle computationally intense work - build blocks for the block proposers to broadcast, and the process ensures that anyone can validate the blobs efficiently and promptly.

## The comparison - Sharding 1.0 vs danksharding

To illustrate the enhanced efficiency of danksharding compared to sharding 1.0, let's reference Delphi Digital 's calculations of bandwidth requirements for data availability sampling:

Sharding 1.0, which utilizes 1D KZG commitment, required only 30 samples but across 64 shards. Each sample is 512 B (bytes), thus:

(512 B x 64 shards x 30 samples) / 16 seconds = 60 KB/s bandwidth

On the other hand, danksharding, which employs 2D KZG commitment, will need 75 samples, albeit for only one block at a time:

(512 B x 1 block x 75 samples) / 16 seconds = 2.5 KB/s bandwidth

Comparatively, danksharding, at 2.5 KB/s, **has essentially reduced the bandwidth requirement by an impressive 96% compared to sharding 1.0**, which requires 60 KB/s!

## Final words

While we call it dank"sharding", the data is not exactly "sharded". The only reason we call it "sharding" is because validators don't have to download all of the data.

Danksharding is still a few years a way, and we'll see proto-danksharding (EIP-4844) first.

ROCI token utilities will be intertwined with all key aspects of RociFi protocol’s highly credit-efficient flywheel: scoring, risk management and lending.

The ROCI token key utilities are:

-   Governance
-   Scoring API for external partners — pay per call
-   Scoring decentralization through score validators
-   Collateral requirement and APR discounts for borrowers who are holders of required ROCI minimum amount
-   Liquidity mining program for lenders and borrowers
-   Capital reserve: percentage of native tokens are set aside to bootstrap reserves via protocol owned liquidity bond markets over a 2 year period to build up the treasuries’ stable coin holdings to cover losses on the protocol.

## **Liquidity mining program for borrowers and lenders**

RociFi liquidity mining program allows to accrue future ROCI token while borrowing and depositing on RociFi capital-efficient lending protocol.

20% of ROCI supply, or 200,000,000 ROCI is allocated for the ROCI liquidity mining program.

The liquidity mining rewards allocation will be following two guiding principles:

**Guideline 1**

The liquidity mining program is going to be split in 4 milestones:

-   Milestone 1: total supplied liquidity is 1M$
-   Milestone 2: total supplied liquidity is 10M$
-   Milestone 3: total supplied liquidity is 100M$
-   Milestone 4: total supplied liquidity is 1B$

The earlier the milestone, the higher are incentives. Once a milestone is achieved, the amount of distributed incentives “quintuples”, i.e. is reduced by 5.

In Milestone 1 the minimum amount of ROCI distributed per 1$ of borrowed/deposited per 1 day is 0.0005.

Each incentivised activity on ROCI has an assigned coefficient. F.e. borrowers accrue ROCI with a coefficient of 12, while lenders who lock their deposits for 180 days period accrue ROCI with a coefficient of 36.

According to this, lenders who deposited 2000$ on the platform for 180 days would earn 2160 ROCI tokens during Milestone 1. Borrowers who borrowed 2000$ for 180 days and repaid would have earned 540 ROCI.

We are excited to announce some changes to our weekly Fan Club raffle system that are designed to protect the interests of our long-time community members and Link3 users. Before delving into the details of the new system, we would like to take a moment to address our community.

Since the launch of the CyberConnect Fan Club, our goal has been to reward our dedicated community members and long-term supporters. Unfortunately, we have consistently encountered Sybil attacks that have led to an unfair distribution of the reward pool.

For instance, address 0x82…43a4 has funded gas fees to over 1,700 addresses in early April, allowing each address to easily purchase seven raffle tickets every week. Without intervention, this Sybil account could have amassed over 11,000 tickets and won 5,000 mini-shards from the raffle every week.

As a solution, we will now divide the reward pool into a Main Pool and a Side Pool, and introduce a Credit Point system to differentiate human users from bots. Users with 24+ Credit Points will have access to the Main Pool and will be able to share the majority of the rewards.

We acknowledge that this is not a perfect solution, and we appreciate your patience and support as we work to implement additional changes to ensure a fair distribution of rewards. # **Calculation of Credit Point**

-Added avatar, display name, basic info +1.67
- Gitcoin passport passing score (total 100)
- Paid CyberProfile (total 3.34) 
-CyberProfile length is less than or equal to 12 characters +1.67
-CyberProfile length is less than or equal to 6 characters +1.67
- Link3 event W3ST holding (total 6.68)

If your total Credit Point is equal to or larger than 24, your raffle tickets will automatically join the Main Pool. Otherwise, your raffle tickets will join the Side Pool.

1. Step 1: Go to Gitcoin Passport and get your passing score.
2. Step 2: Click the refresh button after signing on Gitcoin to reveal credit points
3. Step 3: Upgrade Gitcoin stamps to reach 24+ points and join the weekly raffle to get main pool tickets.

During the weekly raffle, we'll evaluate your credit points and allocate your tickets to either the main pool or the side pool based on whether you have more or less than 24 points.

You will see a “main pool” tag if your tickets are counted in the Main Pool.

**1/ Introduction of SCAN Function:**

The SCAN feature was developed in response to the recent surge of Meme tokens and the associated scams. It aims to help users make informed investment decisions by providing security findings. Users can copy the smart contract of a token they want to research, select the corresponding chain in the app's "Scan" section, paste the token address, and view the results within seconds.

=>Yes and no. Technically, if the result shows that a coin is reliable to invest, it means that on technical matters, the coin is safe enough for users to trade. =>Yes, it is absolutely available. As long as the contract of a coin is created then the technical information in its smart contract can be scan by the feature

=>No, Scan function can only scan the cryptocurrency as NFT is unique and its operation is not matching with the process of the function.
